The old port
Stretching around a bustling marina, Marseille's Vieux-Port is known for its elegant hotels, waterside cafés, and seafood restaurants serving mullet and lobster from the fish market on the quay. Guarding the entrance to the harbour, Fort St John is a centuries-old building that stands next to the Romanesque church of St Lawrence.
